RONDEL Association

Our association was founded in 2000 mainly for the purpose of saving the Čabraď Castle. However, we have been working at this castle since 1997, when we participated in advance archaeological research led by PhDr. Václav Hanuliak. It is thanks to him that we are at this beautiful castle.

We also try to collect fragments from the history of the castle, scattered throughout various archives, and assemble them into a mosaic that tells about our, often exciting, history. Thanks to constant study, we also expand our knowledge of the lives of our ancestors, their everyday lives, which we try to try in practice as much as possible. This is how our experiments with the production of medieval ceramics, fired in a wood-fired kiln, involvement in the fencing community and other projects came about.

Another goal we set when we founded it is to support the promotion of the castle and the Krupinská planina plain in general, or the Hont region in which it is located. Therefore, we have organized two cultural events directly under the castle, several exhibitions, and a few articles about the castle were published on the radio and in newspapers… We have also supported the publication of some collections, books, etc. We want to continue these activities, because knowledge locked away at the bottom of a drawer is as if it did not exist. There are currently 12 regular members registered in the RONDEL Association. In addition to them, around 50 people participate in life at the castle more or less regularly. Our collective has a sociable, friendly atmosphere, full of humor. In the wilderness in which the castle is located, we depend on each other and therefore we always support each other, help each other and do not make differences between us.
